We are gonna start CS503 next week! While I am still working on concretizing the syllabus and etc, my intention is to both follow the tradition and introduce new perspectives. As you have probably known already, CS503 is one of the flagship courses in the Computer Science department, and we have XINU developed by Prof. Douglas Comer to help understand both the high-level concepts of OS and low-level implementation details. As usual, we will follow “The XINU Approach” most of the time during the course. Most homework assignments will be about XINU as well. Meanwhile, because I am doing OS security research, I will bring the security flavor into this course in the later phase of the class. We will also talk about Linux kernel hacking and security. It should be a fun and useful class at the same time.
Thank you again choosing this class and getting onboard with us. Please make sure you wear a mask during the class and keep social distancing in the classroom. See you soon and stay safe.
